We’re coming up on the longest day of the year, Happy Summer Solstice everyone! Of course that means the day after the days start getting shorter, oh well. Start your weekend off on Thursday with Rogue Wave and Caveman at the Sinclair.
Or try Mondo Thursday with Mary Lou Lord, Bryan Hinkley and Jake Hill at the Plough and Stars. Friday is one busy night with lots of great choices. If rockabilly’s your thing try the Midway for DJ Easy Ed Presents Marti Brom, Jittery Jack and Miss Amy.
Or maybe you want to go to a circus and see jugglers and acrobats, then try the Plough and Stars for Solstice Circus. There’s also a fun night of rock with Eddie Japan, Spin-Off, John Powhida International Airport and Gene Dante + the Future Starlets at Radio and former Boston rockers Tracy Bonham and Kevin Salem are at Johnny D’s.
Another cool happening on Friday is the Boston Rocks for One Fund with Charlie Farren, The Liz Borden Band, Adventure Set, James Straight and the Wide Stance and Melanie Lynx at Hard Rock Cafe. See what I said? Too many choices for a Friday night. Saturday night has The Lyres, The Zambonis (best hockey themed rock band ever), and Satin Kittens at the Middle East Upstairs (this show starts early, doors at 7p); rootsy Sam Reid + the Riot Act at Atwoods and Jon Macey’s Fox Pass, Cal Cali’s New Experience, Tsunami of Sound and Answerman at The Midway.
On Sunday if you feel like going for a drive, Dwight Yoakam is performing at Indian Ranch in Webster. On Sunday evening The B-52s and The Go-Gos are at the Bank of America Pavilion and there’s a also a benefit Channel Reunion Concert with Jon Butcher, Robin Lane and the Chartbusters, Lizzie Borden and the Axes, Farrenheit, New England, The Stompers, The Fools and more at the Royale, definitely a chance to get in a time machine and enjoy a night of classic Boston rock.
On Monday there’s Night of the Living Deadhead with Taps, Insect Factory and Earthen Sea at ZuZu. Tuesday has night 1 of The Rascals at the Opera House and Agnostic Gospel (featuring Dave Champagne of Treat Her Right)at the Lizard Lounge. And on Wednesday night it’s night 2 of the Rascals at the Opera House and Snowden is at Great Scott.
